Edwards, Inc. Company Background

In 1979 Derrill Edwards started his own full time business. He began with a pickup truck, portable welder, hand tools and an initial investment of $7000.00, saved while serving in the US Marine Corps. With a desire to have more for his family and an "I Can" attitude, Edwards, Inc. was formed. Due to demand for commitment and quality, Edwards, Inc. began to expand. In 1980 Derrill Edwards built his first shop, a 2000 square ft. metal building in Spring Hope, North Carolina.

In 1983 Edwards Inc. purchased it's first crane, a 35 ton Grove. In 1985 Edwards Inc. added a 100-ton hydraulic crane, which was the largest in NC at that time. With the many opportunities and foresight, Edwards Inc. was evolving into a leader in crane rental and full service heavy industrial contracting. By continuing to provide quality work, quality service and making a commitment to each customer, Edwards Inc. has grown into one of the largest full service industrial contractors and crane rental companies in the Southeastern United States.

Today, our projects range in size from short-term time and material projects to long-term multi-discipline contract projects that encompass a wide spectrum of craft requirements. Customer lists include companies in pharmaceuticals, chemicals, food processing, wood and paper products, power generation and textiles located throughout North America. Today, Edwards' hydraulic crane rental fleet is noted as being the largest in North Carolina. Our vast fleet of cranes ranges from 7 ½ tons to our flagship LTM 1400 Liebherr 500 ton crane. Five locations are utilized to provide customers with 24-hour service throughout the southeast.

To compliment our extensive equipment fleet, Edwards also has a state of the art computerized dispatching and communication center that enables us to have quicker response times to our customer's requests, field representatives for on-site evaluations, and certified operators to ensure safe and efficient lifts.
