Edwards Inc. provides full-service fabrication, crane and rigging, piping, electrical, general plant maintenance and ASME Code fabrication and repair.
We serve a variety of industries including: pharmaceutical, food processing, wood and paper products, textiles, general manufacturing, agriculture and power generation.
Our projects range in size from short-term time and material projects to long-term multi-discipline contract projects that encompass a wide spectrum of craft requirements. Customer lists include companies in pharmaceuticals, chemicals, food processing, wood and paper products, power generation and textiles located throughout North America. Today, Edwards' hydraulic crane rental fleet is noted as being the largest in North Carolina. Our vast fleet of cranes ranges from 7 ½ tons to our flagship Terex-Demag AC500-2 600 ton crane. Our various locations are utilized to provide customers with 24-hour service throughout the southeast.
To compliment our extensive equipment fleet, Edwards also has a state of the art computerized dispatching and communication center that enables us to have quicker response times to our customer's requests, field representatives for on-site evaluations, and certified operators to ensure safe and efficient lifts.

3D Design/Planning Capability
Our in-house drafting staff has over 35 years of experience in detail drafting. Our staff consistently achieves high quality, effective communication, in-house control, and immediate response to changes and revisions. Working with our Fabrication and Crane Divisions, they increase productivity by modeling and detailing each critical project.
Our detailers are equipped with the most advanced computer-aided detailing systems available. The SDS/2 3D detailing software by Design Data is a totally integrated software package that is tailored for structural steel construction and fabrication. CAD-MECH and CAD-PIPE by TSI are industry standards that bring 3-dimensional mechanical and piping design, and detailing capability to our design-build environment.
Our Crane Division is equipped with the Cranimax CRANE MANAGER 3D software. This powerful software package provides a quick and reliable determination of outrigger loadings and ground pressures by using duty charts in addition to selected crane combination, load case and boom position. Calculations and capacity checks are completed in real-time.
In 1979 Derrill Edwards started his own full time business. He began with a pickup truck, portable welder, hand tools and an initial investment of $7000.00, saved while serving in the US Marine Corps. With a desire to have more for his family and an "I Can" attitude, Edwards Inc. was formed. Due to demand for commitment and quality, Edwards Inc. began to expand. In 1980 Derrill Edwards built his first shop, a 2000 square ft. metal building in Spring Hope, North Carolina.
